Program Summary

This program  gives us opportunities to admire pristine natural wonders and historical heritages while taking into consideration the human factor by giving due respects to local lifestyle and preservation of their traditional ways of life. Its main theme is sustainability -supporting local communities and development of their livelihoods. The communities welcome both local and international travelers to visit their homeland to showcase their culture, the beautiful and lush nature and picturesque mountainous sceneries. If you are looking for authentic hill tribes experience or you are the one who truly wants to protect the environment from impacts of globalization while promoting sustainable development, there is no better choice than this venture into Chin region. This program is a collaboration with Bagan UNESCO World Heritage Site to explore the highlights of historic pagodas and temples.

Program Details

Day 01: Yangon Arrival and Sightseeing

Mingalarbar! Welcome to Myanmar!

Upon arrival at the Yangon International Airport, our friendly tour guide will meet you. Begin your day maneuvering busy traffic of Yangon towards the downtown –  about 1 hour drive to the city centre. Explore its fabulous mix of architecture and historical buildings along the strand road which have a faded colonial charm that you cannot see elsewhere in Asia. On the way to the post office –a lovely historic building, you will pass by Strand Hotel, Mahabandoola Garden and the Independence Monument. After about an hour, visit famous Chauk Htat Kyi Pagoda, home to a 70-meter long reclining Buddha. The soles of the statue are carved with reliefs of traditional symbols and often many locals gather here to pay homage and pray. After lunch, visit Bogyoke (Scotts) Market (closed every Monday and on public holidays), the finest place for shopping in Yangon and a one-stop shopping place for both locals and foreigners to shop for all the local products displayed and sold (Myanmar souvenirs, lacquer ware, tapestry, gems & jewelry and etc.).  Finally, you can visit the Shwedagon Pagoda, one of the world wonders due to its sheer size and height and fascinating history, with the towering glittering gold stupa overlooking the entire city.No trip to Myanmar is complete without a visit to the 2,500 years old Shwedagon Pagoda, which enshrines strands of Buddha's hair and other holy relics. At the same time, enjoy the amazing sunset view from the Shwedagon pagoda. Check in and enjoy your night at a hotel in Yangon.

Day 02: Yangon – Bagan (Flight), Bagan Sightseeing

After breakfast, our guide will meet you in the hotel lobby and transfer you  at Yangon domestic airport on a flight to Bagan (approximately 1 hour 20 minutes). Upon arrival at Bagan airport, our stationed guide from Bagan will welcome and help you explore the ancient Bagan with the highlights of historic Pagodas and temples; Shwezegon Pagoda - the prototype for later Myanmar pagodas built by King Anawrahta,  Ananda temple - a masterpiece of King Kyansittha, Thatbyinnyu temple - the tallest structure in the Bagan plain,  and Dhammayangyi temple – an absolutely massive temple. After lunch, you will learn more about the local culture with a visit to two workshops producing Bagan's most famous products: lacquer ware and wood crafts. Watch as the skilled craftsmen use techniques passed down through generations to create beautiful items. In the evening, enjoy the sunset view at Nyaung Lett Phet view mount (or) Sulamani Kan View mount and you will certainly be amazed by the beauty of Bagan while you watch the sun slowly sets behind the ancient Pagodas.  We then transfer you to the hotel to enjoy your night in Bagan.

Day 03: Bagan – Sar Long Community village

After breakfast at the hotel, our guide will meet you in the hotel lobby and go by car  to Sar Long Village in Chin State on an approximately 5-hour drive among the forested mountains. On the way, you can take photos of the nature – beautiful landscapes dotted with traditional bamboo huts, golden stupas and ox carts on the road. On arrival, relax for a while at Sar Long Community Lodge. In the afternoon, meet the friendly Sar Long communities who will take you on a tour around their village introducing to Chin Nature and Culture. The communities proudly showcase some of their local customs and will talk about the famous Chin facial tattoos. The community musicians will treat you to a musical rendition on a bamboo flute, played through the nose. At dinner, traditional Chin food will be served at the community lodge. Enjoy your stay at Sar Long Community Lodge in Kanpetlet Township, Chin State.
 

Note: The facilities in Sar Long Community Lodge are very basic, but clean. Twin bedrooms come with comfortable mattresses, blankets, mosquito nets and bathroom attached. No electricity during night time, but solar powered lighting is available. 

Day 04: Trekking Mount Khaw Nau Sone

Mount Khaw Nau Sone is also known as Nat Ma Taung  or Mount Victoria

After a simple breakfast at Community Lodge, a 45 mins uphill drive will take you to base camp for trekking to Mount Victoria. Mount Victoria is the 3rd highest mountain in Myanmar. At the base camp, your guide will pack some snacks, water and lunch to start your trekking adventure up Mount Victoria. It will take approximately four hours to go up and come back down. You can enjoy the fresh mountain air while surveying the surrounding mountainous terrain a 360 degree view of the Chin hills. Return to base camp and drive back to Kanpletet, where you will visit one or two Chin ethnic tribes; Nga, Muun, Daai, Uppu and Yin Do women with different facial tattoo patterns. You can see women with facial tattoos who play flutes by their noses. At dinner, traditional Chin food and Chin Khaung Yae (traditional Beer) will be served at the community lodge. After dinner, there will be entertainment with cultural dancing performed by local communities. Enjoy your stay at Sar Long Community Lodge in Kanpetlet Township, Chin State.

Day 05: Kanpetlet - Bagan

After simple breakfast at the Community Lodge, drive back to Bagan (approximately 5 hour drive) and check in to your hotel and relax. Enjoy your night at a hotel in Bagan.

Day 06: Bagan – Yangon Departure

After breakfast at the hotel, our guide will meet you in the hotel lobby and transfer you to the airport for flight to Yangon (approximately 1 hour and 20 mins). Our vehicle and guide will be at your disposal until the transfer to Yangon International Airport for your international departure flight.

  • Domestic flight tickets and airport taxes
  • Transfers and tours with English-speaking locally stationed guides
  • All entrance fees for the places as mentioned in the program
  • 2 days 1 night at Sar Long Community village with meal and basic accommodation
  • Service charges, room tax and baggage handling
  • If there are 16 people and above we will grant 1 FOC for tour leader in single room.

  • Lunch and dinners 
  • Myanmar Visa fees
  • International flight tickets to and from Yangon
  • Expenditure of a personal nature (Such as: uses of mini-bar and refrigerator, laundry service, telephone call and etc...)   
  • Travel insurance (cover against all cancellation costs, medical expenses, including repatriation, in the event of accident or illness)
